UrbanLAN Launch

28th - 30th July 2006
Attendees 30+

UrbanLAN launched it's first official event at St Pius X School in Bader, Hamilton. The event used 4 rooms. The first room (holding 9) housed most of the crew. The second room was a small teacher's office that the select few (3) chose that wanted some peace and quiet while getting on with their gaming. The third room was the main room where everyone else sat. The fourth room was a classroom we used as a sleepout room - especially since the LAN effectively ran for three days. Christmas tree lights, blue lights and other lights were dotted around the place to make the packets go faster.

The network consisted of a single 9 port NETGEAR Switch, 2x 5 port switches and 2x 10/100 24 port switches. The structure and practicality of it all was simple. Needless to say we had a few loops but all in good fun.

Games of hacky, soccer and spotlight with the objective to steal a guarded bottle of drink were classed as enforced breaks.
