First of all let's tell you how UrbanLAN came about.

It all started with a group called 'UrbanCulture'. UrbanCulture ran a social forum website that was made famous in NZ for its petition that stood up against telecom's withdrawal from the free texts for $10. This eventually led into the creation of Boost Mobile Monsta txt. The forum continued for quite some time. After a while, the staff became eager to do something new. The decision was made to expand from the 4-5 people LAN parties held in staff member's houses, to something more sustained. From here UrbanLAN was born! Events were led by long time crew members who had a desire for social gaming events where everyone could fit in and participate in something fun.
